Mr. Travis made a lasting impression on me in School. A great instructor. He was easy going and witty, but professional; and gentle, but firm. Most of all he was steady and unchanging (even his suits were from the 50's). The 70's was a chaotic era to grow up in, at least for me. At that time, I needed these attributes in an older person. It is great to have known Mr. Ron Travis. My condolences to Mrs. Travis, John and Family.

I have knowen Ron since high school, then as my teacher, and after as a friend. He was my favorite teacher through my school years, shaping and molding young minds in a positive way, to prepare them for their futures. After a visit with him you were left with a smile. He will be missed . Rod

My father, Bob Cummings, was a friend of Ron's while they were both teachers at Dover Plains. I remember going to the home of the Travis family, for cookouts etc. I always remembered him as a very nice man. My condolences to his entire family. Mr Travis is one of the people that made me think twice about things. He taught me many lessons about shop and many lessons about life. I will remember this man for many more years to come. I have been blessed with the people around me growing up and Ron was one of them.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Travis's passing. In our lives there are teachers that help to influence and inspire. Mr. Travis was that teacher for me! His larger than life presence was somewhat intimidating as a middle-schooler on my first day in shop class. However the confidence he placed in me on that day by making me the shop supervisor helped to build character that would follow me throughout my life and career. It was my pleasure getting to know him and his sense of humor through continued classes over my high school years. Seeing him again a few years back at the library was a nice opportunity for me to share the positive role he played in my life as well as many other Dover students.
