Dear Tom, Charlene, Lee, and Family, It is with great sorry that we convey our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all of you on the passing of Debbie. Randy called me and asked if I was sitting down as he informed me of Deb’s passing. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I go back a long way with Debbie and all of you, going to school together, growing up together between Millerton and Amenia. Debbie was a beautiful girl, full of life, intelligent and spirited, spunky one might say. Deb was certainly never at a loss for words and could mix it up with the best of them. Our friendships were, and still remain honest and true. We grew up during some of the greatest times in America, and during some of the most trying times in America. We worked hard, and played hard, and we cherished our friendships. We had wonderful times together, which make for very pleasant memories. We take for granted that our friends and loved ones will be there tomorrow, and we often go for long periods of time without seeing one another. We often intend to get together but somehow the burdens and responsibilities of our busy lives get in the way. When a tragedy such as this happens I cannot help but to regret failed efforts to make a point of getting together with longtime friends. Debbie was all things good in a person, and in an American. Our Daughter Andrea is getting married on Saturday, so we will not be able to attend the services. I am so sorry. We are deeply saddened by Debbie’s passing and our hearts are heavy with sorrow. It is impossible to find words to ease the pain of this. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May God grant you the strength to endure and heal from this tragedy. I am sorry for your lost of Deborah. My last name is also Downey. This caught my eye because I am from Palmyra, NY. Apostle Paul at 1Cor 15:26 speaks of death as an enemy. That it is because it is so final and hurtful. As a point of encouragement though Rev 21:4. tells us that death, pain & sorrow will soon be done away with. That will be thru the kingdom we all pray with the Lord's pray. Hope all her family & friends fine comfort in God's word.

I am very sorry for the loss of someone so young and energetic. I know how much she loved her husband, children and grandchildren. I enjoyed watching her drive the convertible by my house numerous times. I drove by Deb's house and would see her working in the gardens.
